A paradox is a statement that appears to contradict itself but that on closer examination reveals the truth. For example when Juliet describes romeo as "my only love sprung from my only hate" she appears to contradict herself.
Can you give 2 more examples of paradox please?

Here's an example of a paradox: a student who wants the self-satisfaction of getting a good grade but doesn't do her/his own work to get it.
