Down-voting is not a feature of this forum, it's a defect. It cheapens the forum.

There is no rational reason why a thread like this one should be sitting there at zero.

Nobody has down voted.
The number by the thread reflects how busy it is.
A new thread will start at zero.

Actually, I think new threads start with 1, that being the original post.

It is sad that people vote the poster and not the post. It makes the whole thing meaningless.

Most of my threads are voted down to zero within minutes and stay that way, the work of some sort of a little clique of super losers who keep at it. I believe this has the effect of preventing you from ever seeing some of this stuff.

Like i say, I view this as a major flaw in the system and not a reasonable feature.

When I see that on a good thread, I usually either reply or vote up. Sometimes, that leaves a negative 2 instead of 3. Other times I leave the count alone just to show what bungholes some people can be.
