Well to begin with, there is a chemical communication which is pheromone based for some ants, but it has been discovered there is also a noise communication. This noise is a call for help in emergencies. I believe a university in New Orleans did a recent study.

@rarebeauty,
I don't know what the majority sounds like but with mine was often heard saying, "would you like some dessert?" She was careful, though, not to antagonize her hubby.
