On a parallel note, I've been told there is a shortage of tradesmen, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc.And the wages are good. Do you think too much emphasis has been placed on the college degree?

I think that generations of bad, selfish decisions by government office holders have resulted in the slow worsening of the American standard of living. The economic hurdle for going to college, buying a house, etc. are now higher than they were when I was young.

I put the emphasis on the word 'selfish'. Perhaps we are all guilty. Enlightened self interest seems to have fallen victim to benighted self interest. Simply offer an entitlement to a large voter group and watch the feeding frenzy.
