Solve: 6x -2(x+1) = 3(x +2)
6x-2(X+1) =3(X+2)
6X - 2TIMES 1X = 3 TIMES X2
6X - 2X =3 X2
4X = 6
did I do this correctly?
==========================
Evaluate 3bc -2a to the second power when a=2, b=3 and c=4

3abc-2a to the second power
3 (3)(4)- 2 (2) to the second power
9 (4) -2 (2) to the sec.power
36 -2 (4)
36 -8
=28
is this alos correct?

Solve: 6x -2(x+1) = 3(x +2)

Ok...I'm going to use the asterisk (*) to indicate the multiplication sign.
First distribute the constants through the expressions in parentheses like this: -2(x+1)=(-2*x)+(-2*1)= -2x-2 ...and
3(x+2)=(3*x)+(3*2)=3x+6

So you get 6x-2x-2=3x+6

Now move the x-terms to the left side and the constants to the right side. The idea to note here is that with equations, you can do whatever you want to one side so long as you do the SAME thing to the other side. So what we're doing is adding things to both sides of the equation so that some terms add to zero, in order to move things around.
6x-2x-2=3x+6
First we add 2 to both sides to get
6x-2x-2+2=3x+6+2 which becomes
6x-2x=3x+8 which becomes (because 6x-2x=4x)
4x=3x+8
Subtract 3x from both sides to get
4x-3x=3x-3x+8 which is the same as
1x=8 or just x=8

Evaluate 3bc -2a to the second power when a=2, b=3 and c=4

Now this depends entirely on where the (to the second power) goes. I'll use ^2 to indicate the (to the second power) part.

If what you meant was 3bc-2(a^2), where only a is squared, then you're right-- the answer is 28--and your math looks fine.

If you meant (3bc-2a)^2, where the whole expression is squared, then the answer would be 1024.

If you meant 3bc-(2a)^2, where 2a is squared, then the answer would be 20.

I'm not sure what you meant. Did you mean that the two lines shown are parallel, and that there's a third line that slants through both of them?

6x -2(x+1) = 3(x +2)

6x -2x -2 = 3x + 6
6x - 2x -3x = 6 + 2
x = 8

* * *

(3.3.4 - 2.2)^2 = (36 -4)^2 = 32^2 = 1,024

* * *

Code:
^
s \ r
<---------------\--------------------> angle 1
x \ w
\
z \ y
<------------------- \---------------> angle 2
t \ u
V

The angles are hard to judge from the picture but remember the angle of a straight line is 180 degrees, and if a line cuts the parallel lines the internal angles must also sum to 180, so it looks like x = y = 114 degrees.

If z was the angle next to y then y + z = 180 and x + z = 180 and x = 114
so z = 180 - x and y + (180 - x) = 180 and z + w = 180, t = y, z = u, s = w, r = x

so y - x = 0 or y = x, and w = z

Solving

r = 114
s = 76
t = 114
u = 76
w = 76
x = 114
y = 114
w = 76
z = 76

Geometry
Hi thanks for your help, I see my mistake on the angles. There is only an X angle and a "y angle" I dont know how that Z got there.

So lets try again:
In this figure, angle 1 is parallel to angle 2.

Angle x = 114 degree. How do I find angle y?

I drew the diagram as best
as I could.

<-x-\----------> angle 1

Check the above figure

s + r = 180
r + w = 180
w + x = 180
x + s = 180

x + z = 180
w + y = 180

z + y = 180
y + u = 180
u + t = 180
t + z = 180

And by symmetry

s = w = z = u = 76
r = x = y = t = 114
