strange insect/parasite

sounds like a screw worm or a bot fly. Although these attack livestock in areas that aren't kept clean or get feces covered, they can and often do attack humans in rural areas where folks live near livestock and where cleanliness isn't maintained or dead skin or lesions are on the skin surface.
I hope that the patient is getting medical attention because these parasites can induce "flesh eating " bacteria infections.
This is not a trivial thing.
