Since he started smoking I ……. him to stop it .
a)had always asked -
b)am always asking -
c)have always asked -
d)always asked -

some say (b) is correct and some say (c) is correct

what's your idea ? and why ?

One and two are good, Dale, three and four are possibilities but they certainly are not the only ones.

Text book answers are pretty much useless to anyone studying a language, Ice. Language, which must reflect life, doesn't operate in that kind of a vacuum.
