Hi, there!
I stuck at the words "nobody can see his own backswing" while reading. What does that mean? Thanks very much! (ps: it's just a title of a Chapter)
Backswings occur in games such as tennis or golf where a ball is struck. It is the initial part of a stroke, in which one moves a racket or club to the position from which forward motion begins. Since humans do not have eyes in the backs of their heads a player's backswing is invisible to him or herself.
@daffodillesun,

Maybe it means we're not aware of our motives
All eyes are glued on this thread to see who will get the coveted red whatever the thing is the hamsters give.
I think it's the OP who awards it, not the hamsters, tho I have no idea how to do it. I got one once, it's much like the feeling of accomplishment you get when you're awarded the prize for largest pumpkin in the agricultural exhibits at the state fair.

True dat, Jack, but the furry ones created it.

Ask a question and you shall be so enabled.
@contrex,
yes, I know. So what does the writer wants to convey exactly?
@MontereyJack,
I've had a couple of them. That feeling of being winner only lasts for the second it takes to realise that yours was the only pumpkin entered.

By yourself you will never be able to completely assess your own performance at a task because there will be some aspects only visible to others.
@daffodillesun,
Not at all Daff
However I was only guessing
having not read the chapter this is assumption: we only know ourselves by experiencing how our presence reflects off of and resonates in others.....this is using a spiffy sports analogy to say this.

pay attention to others....take them seriously, for your own good.
