Does anyone know the botanical name of this Tree- shrub. I have it in my garden Has a red flower . google was no help. Thanks
Dunno but I have one too. It curls around the side of my house seeking sunlight as a deck was built over it. If you bump into it when it's flowering you get plastered in red "hair".
Combretum constrictum << Google likes me more than it likes you .
Welcome to A2K.
I can tell you that the Bottle Brush genus is Callistemon. I can also tell you that the Red-flowered Bottle Brush we have here in Australia is Callistemon viminalis. However I can't tell you if this same species also occurs in New Guinea (not unlikely) or what the species name is if it is a separate species up there.
New Guinea Bottlebrush
Gee Thanks for your replies. Im from halfway to outback Australia and so need to grow drought resistant plants. I love Callistemons and bought 2 more only yesterday . One is call tangerine Dream and the other Kings park special. I dont know why I couldnt bring it up in google before as Ive just been back in and found it. Yes thats the one alright Combreton constrictum. I needed to know tall it would grow and whether it dosent object to a good prune to produce more flowers. I think the flowers are sooo Pretty.
