This is the SaintLaurentii church by Skagen,north Jutland, Denamrk. Also called the church buried by sand.
It was buildt around the end of 1300.
Sandstorms over the years buried the church and at the end of 1700 one asked for allowance to tear down the church.
Notet he tower is typical for Danish churches. with kind of steps on each side of the tower There are 6 on this church others have 4 or 5.
The six steps - I have been told - are supposed to represent Jesus and his 12 apostles.

Rydaholm Church does have a double spire, which is very unusual for a church which is not a cathedral.
Swedish curches often look very simpel from outside but are very well taken care of. They were not destroyed during the reformation so many things are back to the middle ages.The tower is from around 1100 and the baptism fund from around 1200. The church is newer.
Often the old churches had/still have a large grandfather clock so the pastor could keep track he did not preach too long.

Perhaps in Sweden. You find churches with three, four, five towers as well - not necessarily cahtedrals.

A Danish example with two towers (Broager Kirke)

A 'modern' example from Germany ("Judendstil" [art nouveau/art déco] (Gagstatt)

One from my region with five towers (Freckenhorst)

@Walter Hinteler,
I was referring to Sweden - not to any other country.

There is a special story to Broager kirke tower.
There were two sisters in a castle on Smöl Vold who were siamise twins. The one died and they did not dare to seperate them to save the other one.
She died a few days later.
The one who lived the longest said that the castle should be solded and for the money a church should be buildt. It got to be Broager Curch.
The two towers are a remembrance of the two sisters and the tallest is for the one who lived the longest.

@saab,
I'm not sure, but I think, there are two sagas, a different one to that about the "siamesiske tvillinger".

But actually, both towers have the equal height Wink

I once heard a story about two sisters. They both loved the same man. So they each vowed to leave his memory and lock away into convents. Each sister found convents that were across a sea. As years passed the sisters longed to bury their past and reunite but in their towers they stayed. As age and time waged on the sisters longed to see each other. High in the cliffs they stayed, aloof. Then on a stormy night both sisters could hold their grief no longer, they descended the rocky cliffs at low tide and ran to embrace each other along the coastal impasse. The next day neither sister was ever heard of again... All that was ever found was footprints of the two...

@Walter Hinteler,
It is an optical illusion.
So many of the old buildings have sagas around them, or ghosts inside or treasures buried in the earth.
Will some of our modern building have sagas around them in few hundred years?
