What do you do when a local eatery you visit at least once or twice a week (for the past 2 years) charges you for extra sauce?

@writethisway,
Tell them what I think - which likely won't matter.
Whether I would go elsewhere depends on how good or mediocre the food is to me.
I'd rather brown bag it some days and go to a good place once a week.

What do you do? You pay the extra charge. Then you make a decision on whether or not you wish to continue to patronize this particular establishment.

@writethisway,
If you want extra food, why do you expect not to pay for it?

@engineer,
Sure - it's annoying.

Like everyone else said - your choices are: Ttell them how you feel and if they don't care - make a decision. Pay it or quit going there.

You really don't have any other choice.
Anyway...it's probably just a quarter. Not that big of a deal.

Seems much ado about nothing to me. Pizza Hut charges us for extra marinara if we order pizza and have it delivered. But - if I go pick it up, and ask for it - I get it for free. So basically - it's a wash. I either spend money and time for the gas - or I spend money on the extra marinara. Seems fair to me.

Yes. I consider condiments a part of the price. Of course, they are free to feel otherwise, and I am free to move along.

@roger,
Agreed. I got charged for tartar sauce when ordering fish and chips in the UK once. Boggles the mind.

They are already charging you for all that stuff. It is built into their pricing.

If they were to raise their prices to cover the additional cost of giving you extra "free" sauce, would you stop going there?

What kind of sauce are we talking about, and does it come in those little plastic packets or is it something they make on the premise?

Well, I agree that it's cheap on the part of the restaurant, especially if you're a regular. I can afford the extra charge but I don't think I should have to pay extra for a little more sauce, either. That's just really cheap, especially when you consider the wastage that occurs in restaurants. It's a bad business decision, if you ask me.

@Mame,
You're right Mame. It sounds like the restaurant manager or owner is just being stingy. Whether its due to some desperate act against tough times or not, it's not a good business act to irritate the customers when we're talking about things that cost mere pennies.

Have you asked them why they made the change?

@ehBeth,
Perhaps they just wanted more change...
