So...........let me see if I got this right. He's upset about being called a troll? Really? You have got to be kidding me..................I gotta be missing something. I can't imagine anyone getting upset about being called a troll. Can someone fill me in on what he's really upset about please?

He's not really upset, and if he were, it would be because he doesn't get enough attention--enough to gratify his sense of entitlement, anyway. Maybe he's upset, but since he starts BS threads like this to get attention, and, in this case, it has worked, i can't think he's upset.

No he didn't write the article, he just thinks it will justify his complaint. Yes, it would upset him to be considered a troll given that he has these fantasies about being the lone voice crying out in the wilderness, the man who marches to a different drummer, the messenger for unpleasant truths. Saying he were a troll would be failing to take him as seriously as the thinks he ought to be taken.

Thanks, the pretty doggy is a very elderly girl now, almost blind, and often confused. We are uncertain whether or not she will last through this winter. You never know, though--we thought the same thing last year, but she made it through, and perked up considerably in the spring. In any event, this is something that comes with having animals in your home.

we are in a similar situation with Ernie our aged Catahoula. He is about 14 now and has lived a life "on the edge" as is the habit of this breed. His favorite foods have been thoise he could chase down and kill, so hes been afflicted with many bites and gashes from groundhogs that have protested being on his menu.
In the last two months he had run out of the pasture (Id never seen him run that fast in several years) and he started chasing an AMISH buggy. The horse go annoyed and kicked him so hard he flew.
Both sides of his jaw were busted and the breaks were LENGTHWISE and at the mel flange his whole jaw segtment just hung down. Several hours of surgery and almost a month of recoup and hes still not fully able to use his mouth. Weve hadda switch him to soft food and NO COOKIES (he would recite the Gettysburg Address in drag for a cookie).
Hes got that '"Sorry boss" look all the time and he seems depressed . We are trying to have him hang out with the border collie more and she is also pitching in to jack up his spirits.
We have had a bit of a premonition that he wont be around into the next spring and summer.

We choose to live with creatures whose lives are briefer than ours , and we invest as much love and patience as we would on our own kids. I guess Id have it no other way, but theres always the heartbreak when they leave us.

people keep trying to make threads all about me, then they use those threads to justify their assertion that i am nothing but at attention seeker who should be ignored. rationalizations can be wondrous constructions to behold.

this thread was intended to be part of the multi year debate at a2k about what defines a troll, and what if anything should be done about trolls.

It's so hard when they start getting old and losing their senses. We know there comes that time when we probably have to decide is it best to let them live or let them sleep forever. I've never liked making that decision. I try to focus only on the wonderful life they had, the love I gave them and they gave me and I know it must be the same for you an ehBeth (how is that lovely lady, btw?). Nothing but good thoughts here from me to you and love to your furry friend.

I guess anyone can be considered a troll of some sort at sometime in this life. But I think there are more important things in life than to worry if someone calls me one. If it is important to you, it's important to you. But it may not be as important or even important at all to others. Live and let live.

i am about truth and free speech, i dont care what people call me but i do care about there being a place to fairly conduct the combat of ideas. a2k used to be such a place. ideally I would like to play a part in saving the value of a2k. this debate is not about me, it is about much bigger things. when people get away with labeling all ideas that they dont want to hear as trolling (aka garbage) so that they and other will ignore it the truth suffers. the human race suffers.

I lost four cats in a space of a year inspite of spending thousands of dollars for the best vet care I could find on them.

It was like having parts of myself dying.

I agree with Engineer and DrewDad. I don't find Hawkeye to be a troll, even though I don't agree with him most of the time. JTT, on the other hand, is the quintessential troll.

I agree with him once in a while.

I don't like where people invade threads meant for discussion where poeple agree or have disconnects and want to talk - and are taken over by arguers forever, people who post maybe hundreds of times, or, many dozens.

Hawkeye does that, as do some others.

The primary fault is that people feed the pest, answering back forevermore.
