Rushing the Season

In August, Halloween cards and candy
were in the stores ready and handy.

"Black Friday" shoppers showed no shirking.
On Thanksgiving those turkeys were lurking
at the mall,
forsaking family and ( worse) football.

On Saturday last, December's first day,
I was aghast to see tradition cast away
as families
carried home
Christmas Trees.

And later that same Saturday night
trees were decorated and alight.
Here's no delayed gratification..
Only lost anticipation.

Though sore of heart of this I'm sure
Soon hearts will be at every store.
So, speed on, progress,
Go faster ...and Hey
I'll be wearing Green on Valentine"s Day.
