Embers of wars still glow;
Members of villages remain few.
None vies for an early ferry,
As waning moon sinks into deep valley.
(The backdrop of this poem is historical: late Tang Dynasty in ancient China)
@oristarA,
The poem intends to describe social grief and hardship. Perhaps it is why none has come to comment it for two days in a row.
Has the poem got some charm of a real poem?
@oristarA,
The character which more-or-less means "poetry", in the ancient Chinese Great Seal script style. The modern character is shi (詩/诗).

@oristarA,
Simple, and very expressive. I like it, but I don't feel qualified to critique poetry.
