Okay, here is the game. One person picks two compund words which they believe to be in no way related. Anyone can come along and change either the first, or second part of the word to create a new legitimate word. The goal is to change the first until it matches the second.
Example: Housefly, Starfish
horsefly
horsefish
starfish...
Here are some additional rules:
1 - if three consecutive people post that there is no possible change, then you can pick a related word but it still has to be compound.
2 - whoever makes the final link goes next. If they don't go in twenty minutes, then anyone can pick up the game.
3 - You can only post one change at a time, then give someone else a turn. With one exception, the last two changes may be done in one post.
4 - The definition of "compound word" we are using for the game is any TWO smaller words which, when added together make a new word. Since only one of the two words may be changed on a turn, the word will remain a compound of only two words.
5 - The compound word can be broken up into two words that are practically one. Examples: Soda Pop would work Orange Pop would not. Until I find a better way to define that, the post will count unless someone objects.
6 - The first part of the word, and second part may switch places. Example: Baseball -- Ballgame -- gameboy
If there are any questions, just post them. I'll go first: Doorman/jetski
Doorman/jetski
Batman
Batplane
jetplane
jetski
Lumberjack / frenchfry
blackjack
blackhole
peephole
Lets say one change per post, then you have to wait for someone else to make a change before you can again. That way someone else can mess it up for you.
so all three words must be real words?
Oh okay, I was trying to do it in one step!
Oh, do we take turns?? or do it ourselves?
Lumberjack / frenchfry
blackjack
blackhole
peephole
a--- hole
Lumberjack / frenchfry
blackjack
blackhole

a--- hole
hole-in-one (is that okay?)
This is some crazy crap you got goin' here.

Cool game!
I just realized, in my example, when I said "horsefish" I was thinking "seahorse."
sCoates:
You may want to post this in the rules or use whatever parts you'd like. It's your call! Let us know what parts of the definition you'd like to use for the game
From M/W Dictionary:
Main Entry: 3com·pound
Pronunciation: 'käm-"paund
Function: noun
1 a : a word consisting of components that are words (as rowboat, high school, devil-may-care) b : a word (as anthropology, kilocycle, builder) consisting of any of various combinations of words, combining forms, or affixes

Ha, Ha.
(I've been spreading the word!)
How did we get from A__hole to Bookmark?

bm or Bookmark is a device used so someone can return to that thread at a later date
