Efficacy of drugs

I have heard there is, or was some variation. At one time, some pills were so tightly compressed they didn't completely dissolve.

Before a patent expires, the maker gets a fairly high price because no one else can make it without paying royalties. When the patent expires, the generics are cheaper. Often the original manufactorer will cling to a higher price. Maybe it's based on their reputation.
