One of my friends met with an plane accident in the 2nd week of february (i m not very clear abt this, but ard the same period) near St. Petersburg (Russia). This was involving a learjet/cessna kind of plane.
Can u please verify this information(that such a plane crash occurred)... I found nothing on the internet regarding this...I will be really grateful if someone comes up with some info.
I can't find anything on it. I've searched extensively.
Are you sure it happened? If there were deaths I think it would be in the news archives or at least in the lists of disasters and tragedies.
I have also researched extensively on news.google.com. and Russian newspapers from St.Petersburg but no such incident has been reported. I beleive that someone residing in St. Petersburg (Russia) area can be of great help. As of now it appears to be untrue, but I want to be very very sure. Hoping for more responses who reside nearby that area. Anyways Thanks for taking all the pain.
Did a search myself and came up with nothing. Good luck.

I'm quite sure that we would get notice of such an accident here in Europe - such even happened during Communist days.
There are no reports to be found.
I searched on the Russian Yandex news search engine. If something like this happened, it would be there.
There's no information about plane crashes in their news line for February.
The crash did occur, and I replied to the original poster on his original post only because of Walter, Craven, and the others here who put in all the work searching Russian databases. Hope the person will come back to explain how it is that he or she confused Russia with Florida <G>
Yes, that would be nice. Because I'd found the Florida one and disregarded it because paragk72 was looking for one in Russia.

Well, Cessna is right, St. Petersburg is east of ... let's say ...Texas, so it doesn't really matter which country
Walter and Craven:
You may not know that I'm a pilot. Both aircraft manufacturers mentioned by the original poster are in the US, and would certainly have been notified if any of their aircraft had crashed anywhere on earth; I'm a Cessna owner, so I called them and asked. Lear said the same. I'm just wary of posters who won't disclose their true purpose in making inquiries, and posted only to stop you from wasting your time on the Russian databases.
Btw - Russian ATC does not publicize crashes of military or training flights (unless there was a big conflagration in an urban area, where publicity is inevitable) so I got curious about both poster and "friend" - will be looking in to see if the person will ever clarify.
Nice to see you both.
Yeah, but since the make wasn't certain all I had to base it on was Russia (I even treated Petersburg as a possible miss).
I found a Fokker crach that looked close, but it wasn't Russia. I actually found the crash mentioned in the Sait Petersburg times and thought I'd found it but then noticed that it was a Florida paper and thought I'd been fooled.
Well I've only been wrong once in my life. I thought I'd been wrong but I wasn't....
Tee hee

I did - and since Craven is much younger, he perhaps will remember as well!
It's always nice, when you 'jump' in here (especially, since you didn't parade on the East P....

)
Interesting sidelight: the original poster posted this exact same question on Abuzz on the same day as here. Same wording, even. Don't know if he got any replies. As you say, it'll be interesting to see if he comes back to explain confusion between Russia and Florida.
Merry Andrew - this thread has 800+ views for a dozen posts, so clearly that poster is watching it.
Besides, I know who he is, and expect him to stay out of my way - can't stand fakes and flakes <G>
