i have few questions for the computer geniuses out there

1- a friend of mine on facebook has for example 10 mutual friends, but when i open the mutual friends list, only five show, can he hide friends we have in common ?

2-how to remove timeline from facebook ?

3-does opening facebook in https:\ really prevent your account from being hacked ?

4-i gave a friend of mine my e-mail pass and facebook pass, so he can maximize the security on them, if i change the password of both accounts facebook and e-mail, can he still manage to open them ?

5-how to prevent your e-mail and facebook from beeing hacked ?

That would be it, thank you !

@war child,
1) Probably not; it's more likely that the friends are hiding the relationship somehow, or you may think they are mutual when it turns out they are not.
2) You can't. Everybody gets it.
3) No.
4) That was foolish. Never, ever give your password to anyone. Change your password immediately. That does not guarantee that he cannot get back in. He knows you and may have a good idea of the kinds of word/number combos you would use for passwords. He could also use a password sniffer in order to get in.
5) Don't give out your passwords. Change your passwords often, and make them hard to guess. Don't click on suspicious software or links you don't know about. Don't fill out jokey surveys or the like where your mother's maiden name (or other bits of data that are often used for "I forgot my password" situations), e. g. if someone passes around one of those "What's your porn star name?" jokes and it requires your mother's maiden name and the name of the school you went to when you were six years old, don't answer it and don't pass it along. Keep your anti-virus up to date as well.

I'm Facebook illiterate, but can help with 3 through 5.

If someone were in a position to view the stream of data between your computer and Facebook, then "https" would prevent them from viewing that data. Such data would include both your password, and any information that appears on the pages you are viewing.

That would probably not prevent hacking (which would almost certainly use other means), but it is still a good idea.

It probably depends on how easily he can guess your new passwords. It might also depend on whether he has learned the "Forgot My Password" security question/answer that websites seem to always have.

Use long and complicated passwords. And don't give them out to anyone.

@jespah,
Not to mention giving out ones password and entry into ones Facebook account is an explicitly direct violation of Facebook's terms of service agreement:
Quote:
You will not share your password (or in the case of developers, your secret key), let anyone else access your account, or do anything else that might jeopardize the security of your account.

https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms
There have been cases where Facebook found out about password sharing and thusly banned (closed) both parties' accounts involved.

For instance, many people restrict the viewing of their profiles, posts and other info to just friends. Some people have it set to friends of friends. In your example, some of your mutual friends have their privacy set to just friends, not friends of friends. That is why the discrepancy in count.

2-how to remove timeline from facebook ?There is no way to remove it. There are utilities that you can use to customize it. One of them is called Social Fixer. Do a Google search to find it.

3-does opening facebook in https:\ really prevent your account from being hacked ?No. As you said in the next question, you've given out your passwords to others. Therefor, it wouldn't matter if you opened it in https. Your Facebook account is still vulnerable until you change the password and stop giving it to others.

4-i gave a friend of mine my e-mail pass and facebook pass, so he can maximize the security on them, if i change the password of both accounts facebook and e-mail, can he still manage to open them ?You should not only change the passwords, but also change the answers to the security questions. If your friend knows the answers to the security questions, he can easily get the password reset by using those when he tells the site his password was changed without his authorization.
