Emiratis, do they have a syndrome?

Do they feel so inadequate about their parts that they are making and making everything bigger and bigger.
It plans on making world's biggest theme park with a Las Vegas style strip at least four times as big as Vegas to name just one. Then there is the world's tallest building, and the world's largest shopping center and hottest property market. It seems like in Dubai, biggest is the way to go. Not to mention how the autocratic ruled culture looks the other way sharia laws on that part called Dubai to keep the westerners over there happy.
Debt keeps piling up, it is just total contradictions and pure madness.
