I’m ambivalent about the movie. Its politics are clearly the schizoid conservative/libertarian element of today’s right-wing, what with its criticism and derision of the counter-culture of the 60's, but the personal story line is whimsical. I got a laugh out of how these people view the 60's and the irony of the fact that their movie whitewashes the right-wing's roll against the civil rights movement. These are the self-same people that would have used the "you are intolerant for not tolerating my intolerance" argument then that they ridiculously brandish today.

@contrex,
Yes, you missed this, C.

This from the English teacher who constantly errs in his advice on the English language. The same English teacher who has no fear of parading that stupidity all over the English threads.

Don't you feel at all embarrassed about how hypocritical you are?

Why would I feel embarrassed about a hypocrisy I do not acknowledge? I still am none the wiser about what it is that JTT alleges that I have "missed". Some aspect of the plot of Forrest Gump that makes it a great work of art? He's just trolling, I am sure. He didn't like me calling him an affectless Assburger, and his echoing silence on the matter only makes that diagnosis the more certain.

No, doofus. You said you didn't like stupid [nationality] and yet you exhibit a grand stupidity, often, in your analysis of language.

But that's just your [stupid] opinion, not a universally acknowledged truth. Years of masturbating in a dank basement have clearly leached away your grey matter in the exact way my father warned me about when I was 12. An awful warning.

Your grand duddery has been proven time and again by your complete inability to go beyond mouthing silly old wives tales, canards, in short, prescriptions.

Noted though that you do on occasion get things right.

Hi, OristarA,
I hope all is well with you.

First, you're talking about a favorite 'saying' not a 'word'.

"Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get."

Here's why that's true.
Look at this box of chocolates:
https://encrypted-tbn3.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTWM_nxvfYcdTTtDdLNuUQQKPWMwLfQRQT2vPak5e8-1Prp5lRzPw
They all look delicious, BUT, you can't tell just by looking at what will be inside each of those chocolates. Suppose you like the sweet almond paste ones, can you tell which of those chocolates have the almond paste inside?
No.
You won't really know what kind of chocolate you are going to get until you bite into the piece. One that looks like a nice soft one, could be filled with crunchy nougat. (not my favorite).
The same with life in so many ways. As we go through our lives and times, we meet up with so many unexpected things, some of them good, some of them bad, some of them the result of choices we have made that turned out completely different than what we thought would happen.

Here's life.
Here's the choices that are before you.
Choose.
Try your best to pick the one you want, but you never know.......

~~~
I'm sure others have said similar thing to you on this thread. This is just my two cents. 2 Cents
And I said that because I've always wanted to use that emoticon and never had the opportunity.
Be well, stay well,
Joe( Cool )Nation
That is the best post, the most beautiful post, that I have seen from u, Joe.
It was very clever of u to exhibit a box of chocolates.
U can be forgiven for punctuating his favorite saying into a run-on sentence.
