Did I remember it correctly?
@oristarA,
Her number is unlisted so I can't call her.
@oristarA,
There are several names in English that have standard nicknames. Elizabeth -> Liz is a common one. A couple of others are Robert -> Bob, Richard -> Dick and Margaret -> Peggy. Maybe some other posters can add on.
@engineer,
Peggy comes from Margaret?
As for the original question, I have never heard where anyone has addressed Queen Elizabeth and Queen Elizabeth II as Liz or Queen Liz.
But I did find this:
Quote:Queen Liz was the pseudonym of an American thief and pickpocket who was a prominent member of New York's underworld during the mid-to late 19th century. She was among the elite "inner circle" of female career criminals under Marm Mandelbaum during the 1860s and 1870s. Among these included fellow thieves, blackmailers and confidence women such as Lena Kleinschmidt, Sophie Lyons, Kid Glove Rosey, Little Annie, Big Mary and Old Mother Hubbard,[1] all of whom were regular guests at her extravagant dinner parties.[2][3]

I found one reference here (but I didn't look very hard):

yeah, it is one of them (also Marge, and Margie, and I think maybe Madge too. and I knew a Midge in HS, who was probably a Margaret, tho nobody ever called her that, and come to think of it I have no idea what her real name was).
