How to plant a plant on my table

There are a variety of things one would need to know to answer such a quesiton. How big is the bowl, both circumference and depth? How much light will there be? (Whether it will be sunlight or artificial light matters, too.) Is the plant only to be ornamental? Will you want a flowering plant?
