@edgarblythe,
These songs are some of my all time faves. I favored good singing voices with a little something extra.

Why let the hits stop?

@Setanta,
And speaking of great female singers, there's Della Steeet (same woman as starred in Michael Landon's Highway to Heaven):

This medley of songs feels incomplete without this classic from Roy:

Of course the attached video is from one of the wildest movies of the last 30 yrs.

Amy Winehouse I consider a being from another time...perhaps another place. This song is sung in such a tender way with a certain purity. Feel the beauty within her:

Somehow in my mind this song HAS to follow Amy Winehouse (her persona). Now for something completely different:

@Ragman,
I really liked Amy WInehouse's sound, too bad.

One of my favorites was the syncopation tricks that Dire STraits used in some of their earliest (and best) stuff.

@farmerman,
100% agreed. Brother in Arms album was one of the best recorded in decades. I used to take it with me to sound rooms to try out stereo equip't. My vinyl lp is still in perfect shape.

@Phoenix32890,
Well done! Such a powerful song. Like out of the blue for them...considering the stype of music they typically did.

this is the first song I really remember hearing

when I was a weeBeth hamburgboy took care of me on Saturday mornings, so mrs. hamburgboy could have some time to herself

sometimes he'd take me to his workplace - the computer room (really a building) behind double airlock doors at an insurance company, and let me play with punch cards while he did important things with giant reels

it was a place that looked a lot like this but Saturday mornings it was hamburgboy and a 3 year old

http://vintageprintable.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/1960s-photo-computer-room.jpg

we often walked home through the university campus

http://www.mast.queensu.ca/~cosy2012/queens-university-kingston.jpg

on at least one occasion, we stopped by the university radio station on our way home - the young man at the controls had been on a work placement at the insurance company

hamburgboy made a request for something to be played about an hour later

we continued our walk home, the radio was set to CFRC and this played for mrs hamburgboy

~~~~~~~~~~
this movie came out the year I was born. I always think of those computer room trips adventures with hamburgboy when I catch it on t.v.
I still love the smell of a server room.
