@tsarstepan,
Did you see the interview he did with Stephen Colbert?

Brilliant.

What a curmudgeon! He wasn't anything like I expected.

@boomerang,
Yep. That was a strange interview. It's also funny that Stephen Colbert has Mr. Sendak's blurb on his new "kids" book that just was published recently:
I Am A Pole (And So Can You!)
The book Colbert got advice from Sendak about during those interviews.

@Joe Nation,
That's awesome!

I didn't know Maurice well but I knew someone well who knew him well, and I've met him. I was a kid at the time, but is there a better time to meet Maurice Sendak? I don't remember details, just that I liked him a lot.

The someone who knew him well is very sad today. Sad

@Joe Nation,
This is so "wild"
At the job I'm at right now, someone just read this anecdote aloud!

@chai2,
It's a great story. So kid-like to eat the card! Every parent has had a kid who did something wonderfully odd like that, that's why we have them, to astound us.

~
It was a hot day.
Got home from doing errands.
Larger kid in back seat, baby in babyseat in front (old days)
Larger kid (3 and half) gets out of car.
No shoes and socks.
"Where are your shoes and socks?"
"I took them off."
I look in the back seat.
No shoes and socks.
"Where are your shoes and socks?"
"I puts them out the window."
"Why?"
Nevermind,
It was a hot day.
