Harbor Bay Isle is a home development in San Francisco Bay. You must go through 2 draw bridges to reach it. I was Harbor Bay Isle's Architectural Administrator for 14 years and retired in 2002 and moved to Albuquerque N.M. I loved my beautiful former home and will always miss it. Butrflynet misses it, too. I'm proud of HBI and want to share a little bit about it for you. BBB

Welcome to the Community of Harbor Bay Isle located in beautiful Alameda, California, San Francisco Bay Area.

Residents and members of the Community of Harbor Bay Isle Owners Association (CHBIOA) will find on our new site resources for home owners, a Community Calendar, General Announcements, Upcoming Events and other useful information, including Maintenance Requests and Architectural Application forms.

There are 20 homeowner associations with 3,000 homes, and over 10,000 occupants. There are several beautiful lagoons and a variety of play and games areas.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Harbor Bay Landing Shopping Center photos. I rode my scooter to work each day, 1/4 of a mile from my home.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
I had a lot of fun and good food in Harbor Bay Isle's Cooking Club.

Community of Harbor Bay Isle Cooking Committee

The CHBI Cooking Club is open to residents of the Community, and space permitting, candidates sponsored by current members in good standing. It is a social group for those who are interested in food, cooking and dining. The culinary year is from September through May and features approximately one event per month.
Organization

Members are assigned to groups of approximately eight people. Members are encouraged to attend three ‘cook-at-home’ dinners with their assigned group. One person in each group is designated as the ‘Keeper of the Pot’, who coordinates all events with their group. The Keeper will coordinate the date, the hostess home and time for each cook-at-home dinner. Together, they prepare recipes from a menu provided by the club and are obligated to share the cost of the meal, excluding beverages, table decorations, etc. Each year a cookbook is chosen for purchase by members. Recipes and menus are chosen from this book by the Menu Coordinators and distributed to all members.
Activities

The Cooking Club provides you with two professionally taught cooking classes to be held at the Community of Harbor Bay Isle Community Center. The fee for both classes is included in your dues.

There are two optional food-related field trips in the Bay Area, which are not included in your dues.

Additionally, the entire membership comes together at a Kick-Off Party in September, a Holiday Party, a Cook-Together Theme Party, and an End-of-the-Year Party/Annual Meeting.
Obligations of Members

To apply for the Cooking Club, submit a completed application, along with a check (in the amount of $70.00 per person), made payable to CHBI Cooking Committee. Mail to: Joann Blas, Membership Coordinator, 18 Purcell Drive, Alameda, CA 94502. Dues are to be paid by August 31 of each culinary year.

Cook, enjoy, and share food expenses for three cook-at-homes with your assigned group, as well as the cook-together theme party. Attend cooking classes, and enjoy all other field trips and events. Help set up and clean up at group events.

Please join us for a fun year!

May you cook with joy. Bon Appetit!

Harbor Bay Intercultural Committee

The Harbor Bay Intercultural Committee (IC), a subcommittee of the CHBI Owners’ Association, was founded in May 1998. Since its inception, the IC has organized numerous seminars on health, safety, and a variety of other subjects that are of interest to our members. The IC also sponsors a children’s Mandarin class. One of the IC’s major activities has been the organization of the annual Lunar New Year (Spring) Festival at Harbor Bay Landing Shopping Center. The IC has donated the proceeds from game ticket sales at the festival to the Alameda Food Bank. The IC has also supported the Community of Harbor Bay Isle’s Annual Community Picnic & Softball Game, benefiting the Midway Shelter of Alameda and the Harbor Bay Isle Community Garage Sale, in which past proceeds have benefited the Alameda Free Library and the Alameda Meals on Wheels.
Membership

Membership in the Intercultural Committee is open to all residents of Harbor Bay Isle and the local community. The annual membership fee is $10 per family. For more information, or to submit your IC Membership Application (phone number deleted.)

IC members can participate in the weekly tea gathering, Tai Chi instruction, seminars, outings, lunches, and dinners. A video lending library service is available to our members. Members can also enjoy discounts at various restaurants.

Meetings/Events

The tea gathering is on Wednesdays at the Harbor Bay Community Center (3195 Mecartney Rd.) from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Seminars and special events are usually held on the third Friday evening of the month from 6:30 – 9 p.m. at the Harbor Bay Community Center or other locations.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Harbor Bay Isle's vendor list is great for the community:

Community Vendor List

The Community of Harbor Bay Isle Owners’ Association is pleased to announce the completion of our new “Community Vendor List”. The list is made up of several local companies and trades people that offer services to our community members.

Each vendor listed has submitted an application and documentation verifying their contractor’s license, proof of liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance (as required). We have also completed a background check to verify their good standing in the Community. All vendors have also agreed to follow all Community Architectural Rules and Standards and to perform their work ethically and to the best of their ability. We hope you find the list helpful, and would appreciate any feedback you may have. In addition, if you have had a great experience with a vendor not listed on our site, please let us know and we will be happy to send them an application.

Please note: The Community of Harbor Bay Isle Owners’ Association has made every effort to assure that the vendors listed will do a great job for our community members. However, this is not a substitution for property owners to do their due diligence when selecting a vendor. The Community of Harbor Bay Isle Owners’ Association cannot be held responsible for any arrangements made between property owners and vendors included on this list. We strongly encourage you to request references, and check with your neighbors, family and friends to find a vendor that works best for you.

Select a category from the column on the right to review our Community Vendors.
