Whether do the foreigners need to learn Chinese when they are working in China?
You know, i was in Korea many years ago, and i did pick up a little Korean--but it was hell-fire difficult because so many Koreans wanted me to teach them English, so i had little occasion to speak Korean.

Yes,you should learn it and your life will be more convinient.
It is a difficult language to learn but would surely prove useful considering the increasing influence of China. On the other hand, their economy is slowing down right now, maybe it isn't the right time.

If it is not relate tightly to your work then it is not necessary.

I think that it's important if you are going to another Country to work, to learn the language.. How else can you communicate otherwise.

If you want to work in china,it will be very convenience for you.just a little is enough.you know,the foreigner in china will be very popular by around.I am chinese and i get it.
