I've seen stairways with a timer on the lights. Sometimes they turn themselves off before you make it to the top. I would never, ever use an elevator in a joint like that.

Of course this means in the few seconds that it takes for the elevator to drop a person is supposed to somehow hit the floor and lay out flat. In some cases there's simply not that much time, additionally what if the elevator has 6 or 7 soon to be carcasses in it? Should it be allowed for just some to lay down and the others can deafen them with screams after the impact?
