@Ceili,
I did think of "Baby" but the kid would kill me. She can't stand him.

Party Rock Anthem is another one I thought of, I looked up the lyrics and I don't think it'd work. (School party.)

@sozobe,
Funny - I was thinking and thinking - and what pops into my head that damn Barney song - I love you, you love me....I know my younger daughter loves Taylor Swift (which was mentioned), my other daughter loves Sugarland - "Stuck Like Glue" is a fun love song.

I also thought of Katie Perry - but they wouldn't be appropriate. I can think of some that my kids like - like some of Katie Perry but I sure wouldn't recommend them.

@Linkat,
And High School Musicals have some fun music.

Do you think she might like some Michael Jackson - like ABC - in the Love theme, but still dancing type.

She reacted with horror when I mentioned "Someone Like You" ("No way! I mean, I love Adele, but this is a party") so you guys were right about that.

So far she likes the rest of the list except for the Adele. Even "Love Story," which surprised me a bit. She thought that was perfect.

She doesn't know any B52's, I'll play "Love Shack" for her.

@sozobe,
Its hard - because most songs with "love" in them tend to be slow type songs - not get up and dance types and those that are - tend to be inappropriate for kids of that age. I can think of plenty - but wouldn't want to have them played at a tween party.

Don't care for Elton John much but one of his early songs is sweet 'cause you can hear 5th graders in the background laughing and giggling.

OK so here's the final playlist:

Love Me Do (Beatles)
Love Story (Taylor Swift)
Nothin on You (B.O.B. and Bruno Mars)
I'm Yours (Jason Mraz)
Love You Like a Love Song (Selena Gomez)
Stereo Hearts (Gym Class Heroes)
I Want to Hold Your Hand (Beatles)
We Found Love (Rihanna song, but Glee cast version for PG-ness)
You Belong With Me (Taylor Swift)
Your Love (The Outfield)

The suggestions on the list that weren't from here were suggested by sozlet. I don't know how she came across "Your Love" but it's a favorite of hers. We struggled a little with the songs trending girly but she said "it's Valentine's Day. It's a totally girly holiday" and she has a point.

@sozobe,
Just actually looked up the "Your Love" lyrics (it was my time but I couldn't remember them) "use your love tonight"? Hmm. May go with "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars instead.

@sozobe,
Well, it's party time so you have to commit. Let us know how it comes out. For the last week, every time I heard a love song I thought of this thread and how it would play for a group of 5th graders.
