I know it's classical it was painted by a famous artist, any idea who the artist is or what period it might belong to? any insight would be greatly appreciated

I dont know but it really looks like one of the "Ashcan" artists like Robert Henri
It sure doesn't look "classical" to me. It seems to have the flavor of sword and sorcery art . . .
