mineralized horse teeth

What is the estimated minimum length of time it takes for teeth to become stone. I found a partial set of horse teeth in the ground of a lake during a drought that would normally be under twenty feet of water. The lake was created about fifty years ago. Is this just a horse that died when the land flooded?
