I have lock for which I do not remember the combination. However, since it is so old the customer service hotline said the lock will open as long as I am within two of the correct number. Suppose that the lock contains the numbers 1 through 40. How many combinations do you need to test? Describe an efficient way that you plan to test these combinations.
