@edgarblythe,
I like that their scale of attack goes fruitlessly backward.

"Even the hydrogen bomb doesn't hurt it." So lets hurl mines at it now! That'll definitely do the monster in!

@tsarstepan,
They can breathe outside of the water? That is amazing. Where did that crab come from?

@mismi,
Somewhere hidden in the "island of seaweed." The octopus apparently scared him out of his hiding place.

BTW: I couldn't see the crab in the video as I'm using a iPod Touch these days until I replace my defunct laptop.

I kind of doubt that a big one could do the same thing. But, what do I know?

@edgarblythe,
There're incredibly intelligent animals...they've been filmed getting out of their aquariums and messing with the fish in neighboring ones...like juggling with them, moving their stuff and taking things they wanted back to their own aquarium.

They're off my eating list......I can't bear eating other really intelligent life forms.

I'll be vego again soon.....

How I used to love those films when I was little!

@dlowan,
The more I learn about these things, the more I respect them. If they were land creatures, they might give us a little competition.

@edgarblythe,
Indeed. I read some sci-fi (Stephen Baxter?) suggesting they'd be easily trained as space pilots. Seemed to be based on real science, but I'm far from sure of that.

@Eorl,
Speculating, it's easy to read their actions from a human perspective. Hard to know what's in their brains, for sure.

@edgarblythe,
Wow, quite impressive! I had no idea they were capable of going out of water, although, it did seem to be struggling in the end.

@edgarblythe,
There are some fairly well recognized problem solving and self awareness tests. Some very elegant. Animal analysis is getting pretty sophisticated.

There's a lot going on in them thar Octopii.

Better be safe than sorry,

Does she have 8 arms? Great for a hug...but must be tough when you want to hold hands. Decisions decisions.

Love it. One of my brothers once researched if it was a good idea to buy an octopus. He decided he did not have enough resources to care for one.
