I haven't used it personally, but here's a free, open-source Photoshop replacment program...Dreamworks & Pixar use it: The Gimp (download page here.)

And here's the free Maya Personal Learning Edition -- Top of the line 3D graphics software!

Beyond Compare really is fantastic...thanks Craven. I prolly won't be buying it any time soon, as I don't need that kind of functionality too often, but it does its job well.

I use it a lot when I have forked a program code but want to include some later updates. It's been invaluable to me since many other comparison utilities are horrid.

Here's an alternative to WS_FTP LE that I sometimes use (this one is also free): FTP Explorer (www.ftpx.com)

I use it because the free version of WS_FTP can't delete folders unless they're first emptied, which is a major pain.

Thanks! I always do this by logging into SSH. FTP is faster.

A word of caution about the program "Hijackthis". Do not delete anything without first checking with your friendly neighborhood expert. I did, and lost seemingly irreplaceable registry files that left my computer unable to use my CD drive or Satellite Modem in Windows2000Pro. I've since had to purchase a new OS and still haven't figured out how to set up the old Hard-Drive as a slave. Proceed with caution!

Here's a great program called Valise Light. It creates password protected archives with the option of self extraction.
