CFS-Technologies Speakonia is a FREE Text-To-Speech (TTS) GUI (graphical User-Interface) Program which uses the Microsoft ® Speech Technology.

The easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI) is similar to Notepad. Speakonia reads aloud any given text with just one mouse click!
The reading can be paused, resumed and can be exported to a wave file. In addition Speakonia is able to fetch webpages through an internal http interface and read them aloud for you. You can even have your mails read to you using the "Clipboard Reading" feature

I used both of these for free for quite some time. I recently upgraded both of them to full editions.

Monger, check out the file comparison utility I recommended. For me it has had far more impact on my programming than edit pad has.

No harm intended, Walter. Bill and I are old war buddies and whenever we run across each other on the internet we toss barbs. Bill's a good guy except for his propensity to wear wedges of cheese on his head as he roots for the most despicable football team to ever roam the planet.

Also, that was my way of bookmarking this thread without having to appear lazy by simply typing "bookmark"

I hate it when people do that!

Beyond Compare really is fantastic...thanks Craven. I prolly won't be buying it any time soon, as I don't need that kind of functionality too often, but it does its job well.

Here's an alternative to WS_FTP LE that I sometimes use (this one is also free): FTP Explorer (www.ftpx.com)

I use it because the free version of WS_FTP can't delete folders unless they're first emptied, which is a major pain.
