@Roberta,
I Googled my name after reading this thread, Roberta.

Most of the references were to letters to the editor/s I'd written over the years.
Did I really write that many?
Jeez, what a complainer! Razz
But they were all in the Cause of Good, let me assure you.

Oh & I discovered that there is only person in the US with the same name. And that she lives in California.

I also have an uncommon name. I am the only one in the US

When googled,
I have donated to Breast cancer.
And all my movie work. (I'm not famous. I'm a simple scenic painter)
Huh, look at that, I'm part of the classmates website, sigh.
Wow. An article from 1992, about my participation in an art show.
Oops, and I'm quoted about the lack of incentives to bring movie work to my state. From last year.
And what I donated to the charter school in my neighborhood.
SPCA donation.
Huh, my cousin putting it in some Easter prayer/church thing. But that must be for my Grandmother that I was named after.

@caribou,
Caribou, good to see you kid. And a well-googified person you are. I didn't know donations were on Google.

I hope all is well with you.

I am a nature centre in a wildlife park in some little corner of Florida (wherever that is! Twisted Evil )
Which is not bad considering I died in 1834!

Hmmmm! MsO - you have been busy!

@Roberta,
Just googled myself just this minute (hadn't thought of it before). Biggest shock was finding some ancient newspaper clippings (from the 1960s) with my byline on them! Gad! I'm famous (just like you, 'Boita).

@Lustig Andrei,
Congrats on your googlification, Andy.

I have some doubts about a Google mention equaling fame. However, enjoy it.

@Lustig Andrei,
You were a journalist, Andrew?
(for all I know you still might be.)

I suppose you could say that, but over quite a long period.
Hardly a letter to the editor a week! Smile

But by far the most prolific efforts have been at the local, Leader newspaper, level.
Bet you've written quite a few of those yourself, margo, living in the Sydney inner-city & contending with so much inappropriate development over the past 20 or so years ...
Thankfully there appears to be no permanent record online of those bun fights with local councillors. (Or they don't appear when I Google my name, anyway.) Some quite torrid to-ing & frow-ing bewteen them & us residents group folk. Best forgotten & buried I think. Embarrassed Wink

Confession: In my earliest, quite apprehensive, letters to the editor efforts, I used my pre-marriage surname. Which seems rather silly now. But then it was scary thing to have a letter published in say, the Age, & it made me feel safer, more anonymous, or something ....
When I Googled my old surname the other day some of those old letters popped up.

BTW when I Google my old (Ukrainian) surname I haven't managed to find another person with the same name yet. I think I'll get quite excited if & when I do! Smile

Hi!
I'm ok. I spent the summer in Cleveland working. Now I'm back home working. I'd like to stay home and work. I met nice people in Ohio, but I'm a homebody.

@hingehead,
144 people have a name referring to a hinged head? Amazing. Do they look like ducks, too?

@Roberta,
I thought Hinge is a goose..

on google, I'll have to go look myself up again. I was in the local paper a few times, so I've probably been moldering in some archives. My biggest splash is that our small design firm (two of us) was part of a colorful article in the LA Times magazine about a fairly radical house and property remodel but I think only the firm name is in it, albeit that my name is part of the firm name.

I think there are a zillion people with my shortened first name and last online, but not so many with my full first name. Well, hey, fame has never been a motivation for me.
