That's not striking down the law - only the Mandate portion of it. And it's an overturning of the lower-court decision that the mandate is not severable. The court affirmed that the rest of the law stands just fine, which is fine with me!

Many Dems such as myself are all too happy to see this happen, as it will hasten the advent of a Public Option or single-payer system faster than anything else we could do.

It's funny to see you celebrating what arguably isn't a good ruling for what you want... almost as if you don't understand the ramifications of the decision.

Really? I highly suspect that you won't like the system which is left afterward, as it would likely put private insurance out of business.

At least, that's what they've been claiming all this time.

If there is no mandate then there is nothing to keep people from gaming the system.

I'm glad we can keep the other stuff in place...but pissed about this part.

Congress was granted NO AUTHORITY
to force American citizens to buy insurance against their will,
and this is put beyond the reach of Congress
by the 1Oth Amendment (+ the 9th Amendment).
