Re: Grey Goo scenario
Being machines (grey goo), it all depends on what they are programmed to do, or in the case of nano machines, what they are built to do. But the general "
Grey Goo" argument kind of assumes some kind of "glitch in the goo" whereby it runs amok, treating everything as raw material for replication, and expanding outwards within its construction parameters.
Viruses and Bacteria don't have to "want" to spread themselves in order to accomplish spreading, nor to they have to understand the motivations of war to wage it; they simply follow the genetic coding that drives them. They are Green Goo whos raw materials are the biological components they need to replicate. Grey Goo would be analagous, but would probably use different raw materials.
