CROW KILLING EXPERTs?

Reply Thu 30 Jun, 2011 10:55 pm
I want to kill some crows. KILL THEM.
No lectures please, these ones are going to die for ripping apart my kids cat in mid air. How best to do it? Surely someone has killed the bastards before. BBs don't work, pellets need at least 1000 lbs of thrust, screw trapping, these things are evil, loud and agressively fearless...until now. I'm single handedly going to put the fear back into them.
If you say "gun", give me the site/link for which one, if poison, what kind and where do I get it? :ink?
Please and thanks..

@abletwoknow,
Check with Animal Control -- what you are proposing may be illegal, and they may be able to help you make your yard unattractive to crows.

22 cal. with cb rounds might do if you can shoot straight... A building or a wood fense should easily stop the round, but if it hits a neighbor it will at minimum, piss them off their **** limit... So make certain of what you are shooting at and don't miss...Burn this post after you get it...

@abletwoknow,
No idea on how you'd get your hands on some West Nile Virus, but the WNV epidemic decimated our crow population a few years back. We were shoveling dead birds out of the roads and driveways.

Of course, a bunch of people got sick and some died, but if you're really determined...

On second thought I think jes had a better idea.

@abletwoknow,
I can understand your anger, crows can be quite ruthless.
I hope you don't get too wound up on the vengeance thing, are you sure you want to teach your kids a lesson like that, for instance.

If you calm down a bit and decide to pursue a more reasonable goal, such as preventing future incidents, you might be better off.
Just sayin.

Funnily enough, I've just moved into a new (old- but new to me) house and the estate agent said, 'I asked the cleaner to do the windows, but I don't think she would have done them on the outside second story - if she hasn't tell me and I'll have her/him do them for you as part of preparing the house for occupancy.'

Well, I was looking at the windows in my bedroom on the second floor and I was thinking, 'Jeez - no she couldn't have done these windows!' as they were just smeared and marked up and a big mess and then I forgot about it. Then when I was over here unpacking and in the house by myself one day, I heard this racket coming from upstairs and I'm thinking, 'What the heck is that- someone else must be in the house,' so I walk upstairs calling, 'Hello?' thinking it was the cleaner back again doing what, I don't know... and I'm standing the door which is facing the window and this big crow is throwing himself against the window and pecking at it.
So then I move into the house and the first morning I woke up here, I was wakened by this huge racket right above my sleeping head, and this crow is throwing himself against the window and pecking at it (at 4:00 in the morning).
And that happens for the next three mornings to the point that I texted my British friend, 'What the bloody hell is up with these crows...I'm almost ready to go out and buy a gun - and don't make any cracks about Americans and guns - this crow is driving me crazy...' and he says - 'Probably Rebecca, the people who lived there before fed the thing and he's looking for food.' And then I went to work and asked another countryside loving English friend what to do and she said, 'Put food out for it.'
And they both told me how crows are like one of the smartest birds and actually one of the smartest species in the animal/bird kingdom. Liz said her grandfather had one so trained he walked around his kitchen appropriately, etc.

So I put out the birdseed and the early am suicide missions (throwing themselves into the window and flapping their wings so hard I would find feathers lying on the ground below) have stopped - and I mean totally - stopped.

No guns, no fuss, no nothing.

@33export,
Mr. 33export, you have got to be kidding! I watch the crows in our hood and they are evil!! They chased a frail old lady walking her dog, harassing her an entire block scooping down on her head pulling off her hat and squawking scaring the hell out of her. I watched them destroy young birds in a nest in m yard....don't feed these birds unless it's chocolate, ground up beans in meat to destroy them!!

@jespah,
I hate the damn things too; but you must be careful where you put things.
I lived on top floor of apt bldg. (big deal, yes I know) but we had HUGE Elm trees all around us; it seemed like those screaming birds NEVER left.

However, I stayed sane and watched where they actually lit, besides the trees: the roof of the next building. Mix rat poison with bread! I threw it on the adjoining roof and watched them go through Hell before they finally fell off! (I made sure no other birds hung out on the roof before starting) I have nothing against pidgins or any other bird but God I hate crows!

I wish I could get a job torturing crows; whistle while you work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
