WTF! Someone needs to be court marshaled over this one. Whoever ok'd this needs to be FIRED IMMEDIATELY and brought up on charges for murder.

This is an outrage and is absolutely unacceptable! Mexico should view this as an act of war. What is the Feds explanation for this?

And they are worried about the lives of federal agents? What about the lives of innocent Mexican civilians?

"12,400 people were killed in raging drug violence in 2010" (I am sure the number is much higher than that!)

One gun from the US is too many.

Heads should roll for this one....

"Weapons used in the killings were traced back to sales in Arizona and Texas respectively."

Bingo!

What about the damage this ATF operation has cost a friendly and sovereign neighbor of ours? There should be charges and a full investigation and all border states should freeze all weapons sales in lieu of this gross and negligent atrocity.

Even though I think the Feds are dumb as a box of rocks they are a hell of a lot smarter than you will ever be.

@RexRed,
This is interesting:

Quote:

....Voltaire observed "It's a good thing to kill an admiral now and then to encourage the others." This observation inspires me to suggest that when an agency carries out such a bit of idiotic malfeasance as the ATF's operation "Fast and Furious" with the cooperation of agents at all levels of the spectrum, an operation which resulted , among other things in the murder of a U.S. customs agent and prominent relative of a Mexican official, it's time to dissolve the operation and dismiss all of its employees. To encourage the others.....

If guns were nuclear bombs, would the right to own and carry one be the same?

I thinks the agents should be tried. This flagrant negligence has cost lives.

Are former US federal agents and their idiotic flagrant and insensitive negligence responsible for this?

@RexRed,
Those U.S citizens who buy the drugs are responsible. Most U.S officials who arnt taking bribes are trying to stop the flow of drugs.

One problem at a time... best not to justify one wrong by throwing in another wrong. He said, she said... Hard drugs grown in Mexico are also a problem. Guns made in the US are a problem too. US demand for drugs are another problem. Stupid inhumane bigoted racist Fox News driven border patrol agents are also a problem. These drugs are not only a problem in the US but also a problem when Mexico's cartels are becoming violent and fighting over turf. Mexico is finding out that is it not a sacred thing these drug "lords" but detrimental to their peaceful and proud society. Just as in the US we have many thousands of drug related deaths a year we also have terrible gun violence here too. People are shooting themselves with their own guns.

Each problem needs to be addressed on its own, not by confusing the issues than doing nothing about them... but by strictly adhering to a code of ethical and moral conduct. Gun regulations and strict background checks, social change and education, law enforcement that behaves with prudence and good judgment.

Not one issue will stop this problem but all issues need to be addressed in concert not with blame but with a collective effort by both countries.

No side is without blame... Immigration is also tied into this issue, FAIR trade and greedy US corporations using immigrants as cheap labor. China devaluing their currency... All of these issues have created this problem. Each issue has to be defeated irregardless of other issues. Politics and money are ruining the social bond between Mexico and the US and the world economies. Just as money and partisan politics have destroyed the republican party. All they have are dollar signs in their eyes, I swear they are more greedy than the cartels in Mexico.

Until the republicans get cash for votes out of their minds (Newt Gingrich syndrome sex for bobbles...) and yank the christian right out of their ass our government cannot function.

...and, Pakistan selling nuclear secrets to North Korea for money to fuel their military while Russia is hacking their way to billions that they don't own, all part of the same global inequality caused by a devalued yen, lost jobs in the US and the US fighting to maintain world dominance by enslaving cheap Mexican labor. If the yen stabilizes (or normalizes) it might be more feasible that these jobs come back to the US then there will be no reason why fair trade could not be possible. This might help the impoverished countries to become viable.
