whoa! I had three of those, a'61, then a '65, then a girlfriend's '57 with the mousefur upholstery. All of em 68 miles an hour with the pedal flat to the floor, on a completely level road, with no headwind. None of them looked as good as that one. I WANT it.

W is for Wintergreen Lifesavers, or as they called them WintOgreen. Back in the hippie days, if you got a bunch of people in a completely dark room and gave everybody a wintOgreen lifesaver, and chewed it with your lips open, you'd see these little sparks in everyone's mouth. Oh, the old simple joys.

Come to think of it, we used to spark up parties with wintOgreen chewing in the same years I had the Bugs.

Ha, I got a speeding ticket on the 405 (serious LA freeway) for going, yes! 68! with my then brand new VW, a 1967. The police officer told me VWs should not go that fast, it wasn't safe. Speed limit was 65.
