@Tifinden,
Hey, isn't the world supposed to come an end TODAY--which would make tomorrow meaningless? In the year 2012, according to the ancient Maya, a major CHANGE (not necessarily a thorough ending) will occur. The Maya were smart enough to predict such a change on a date well after their demise. The guy who predicted today's end is alive but 89 years old; he was cutting it pretty thin.

@Tifinden,

not exactly, because, the present varies greatly from the past, and this is likewise with the present and the future. If you understand the past, you are likely to misinterpret the future, and when you discover purpose within the present, you forget the presence of the future, and the cycle, between past, present, and the future, continues infinitely. Fine attempt, however, "Hamilton".

according to the butterfly affect, and the chaos theory (which i KNOW you believe in) , my statement is true.

@Chights47,

Thoughts and actions can only be conceived in the present, but everything with our consciouness is always done with some measure of forward thinking. So consciously we are always in the future and never in the present. The only way I can possible fathom anyone be-ing in the present, would be to either meditate with a level of almost absolute perfection, or to be brain dead...either way, there would be very little (if any) thoughts or actions.

So what I think you're saying is that everything is done in the present, but we still don't do anything in the present. You could break down any action to any fraction of time you wanted and there would still be no actual sense of "present" in our minds.
I think we define being 'present' quite differently, which is quite okay.

This is really a big question, a very interesting too, for most of us are living for the morrows we are always unsure of. The specter of what will happen is there haunting us all the time and that makes us prepared and indeed and we have down the straits of time learned to store for the uncertainty about the forthcoming and about our posterity. But now at this epoch our caches for tomorrows are colossal. And we empty the granaries of others when we under a sway of acquisitiveness.

One of the reasons why we had a series of meltdowns is our attitudinal problem. We have too much cheap money and the reason why we have much of it is there is a flaw in our financial system. There is a massive gap between the have-nots and the haves. Some people live on less than and dollar a day and the few others live on great incalculable fortunes.

Why this happened? The single reason is we are too much concerned about our future.

@Tifinden,

why should we worry about the future- even as imminent as it is
It is more important to realize the affects and results of what we do today, and how these actions will impact what we do tomorrow or in the future

I don't quite see how "realizing how our actions will impact what we do in the future" is different from "worrying about the future."

@Tifinden,
not really, no. all we need to know is that it comes after past and present, or else it gets upset if we forget, and screws us to hell.

@Tifinden,
We should worry, I believe, for as I do not want to end up living like a hobo on the streets, I study for tomorrows test, I prepare for my upcoming piano lessons, I am ready for my job interview tomorrow, do you catch my drift? This is why I prepare for the upcoming day. It is exciting, therefor our minds can't hold back what could happen. Thats why some kids dream of becoming rockstars, and become them! Or some kids grow up to be astronauts, or even might be the president! It is so exciting to think about thing, like how you could think about getting bitten by a radioactive spider and becoming a superhero! I rest my case for now, and I will comment more later if i have time.
