I know that your capricious visit was a whim,
but what of shivering daffodils?

and tender buds numbed
by your clumsiness?

it’s true your cousin frost's the crueler one
-the real 'blonde assassin'-

but I wish you'd have compassion
for birds and buds who’ve had enough

of you and him.

Thanks folks!

At the risk of inflicting "TMI", here's a little background on the poem:

It started out when I looked out the window Monday, 3/28, and saw about an inch of snow.

I impulsively put: #%#&#! SNOW! on my FB page. :-/

A FB friend then shamed me by posting two lovely and laudatory poems re snow in the Spring.

A second friend mentioned concern for her daffodils.

I then felt compelled to make my 'no-more-snow' point less crudely. :-)

From there the little poem came easily .

@jjorge,
Oh I had the same reaction to the snow. (Your initial FB reaction I mean.)

We have about an inch too, maybe less, but everything is white out there. Very weird to have it be 7:45 PM, still light, and snow everywhere.

I've seen snow before. Frost, too.

Lovely, jjorge.
I wish the snow would have more compassion for the birds & buds , too!

But not too long to go before your real spring arrives ...
To keep your spirits up, here's my very favourite spring poem for you.

in just-

in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman

whistles far and wee

and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it's
spring

when the world is puddle-wonderful

the queer
old balloonman whistles
far and wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing

from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

it's
spring
and
the

goat-footed

balloonMan whistles
far
and
wee
