Which, as we all know, stands for "Mums Know Best".

The Hairy Bikers are out on the road again, searching the length and BREADth of the UK, looking for old family recipes that have been handed down through the generations.
Recipes like.....
Corned Beef and Potato Pie (with pastry as light as "a Dove on a Trampoline")
Spotted Dick
Diggers
Partridge Escabeche
Mackerel Gratin
Chacky Pig
"Hockey puck" Meatloaf

.....and a database of old traditional family recipes as long as your arm!

@Setanta,
'Twas merely what the 'Merkin mum in question called it.

Apparently, although the recipe is brilliant, her mother was not the best of cooks, so each slice ended up having the appearance and consistency of the aforementioned puck.

She regularly pucked it up, one could say.

@Old Goat,
Yeah, spotted dick, pop 'n squeek, and bangers. I wouldn't order a thing over there with out someone to translate British to English.

Bangers, that's just pork sausages . . . and them are good, too!

@Setanta,
Nevertheless, I get suspicious of food with cute but uninformative names.

@roger,
Bangers and mash . . . good for breakfast, or any other meal. You can get bangers in Canadia, although as the population is less and less "Anglo" it gets harder to find them.

Toad in the hole.

Toad in the hole consists of sausages in Yorkshire pudding batter, usually served with vegetables and onion gravy.
