When/why did "douche" become a synonym for "jerk"?

That is not fully true. I have a friend who suffered from candida back then, and her douching was medicinal. I think that sequence affected her whole life.
(Using her bathroom as a guest was a learning experience.)

Around the same time, via a boss who was a specialist in various immune disorders, I became aware of a patient with (I forget the term, but it meant rampant) candidiasis. The good bit is that that old friend is still ok.

I forgot about douching as a treatment for candida. You're right. It is.

Yeah I'm back. At least until my nomad ass wanders away again. But you know I always come back. You people keep bringing me back.

No way! Hm, it would make sense since a yeast infection is just an overabundance of the yeast already present....shoot. Maybe instead of spending $17 on medicine, I just buy a douche the next time.

I have to giggle. I am working on a short story in which one of the male characters, a grad student during academic '67-68 is so busy feeling sorry for himself that he fails to realize the girl who shoulder he is crying on is fed up with him. The girl and guy are with friends, celebrating the end of the year, when she realizes she would like to crawl into bed with him while he is being a sap. When she storms out, one of the other men will call him a douche bag. Thanks for reminding me of this very apt word!
