Oh... and one more rant.

I've discovered that the New Year comes whether I see it in or no. There's a very good chance that I'll be asleep at midnight.

Do something memorable every week? Drom, I like that! Are you really going to get that house??? Cool.

I also think it is important to find do-able resolutions. My resolution to have more fun is the best. I've shared it with many people who take it up whole-heartedly, but... what a struggle it can be towards the end of the year when I look at my Fun Punch-card and I see that I've got to get busy.

RE: the turn of the year.

As SealPoet says, the turn of the year used to be the beginning of Aries - astrologically it's still the beginning. It is more like Chinese New Year. It is the beginning of Spring instead of the dead of winter. I want it reinstated. Either on the equinox March 21, or April 1st, I'm not fussy.

Does anyone else?

I've been thinking about this, Clary, and I like the flip-flop of the solstice for determining the new year... sun standing still and all that. The equinox is so balanced and even. The Chinese New Year is still deep in the heart of winter... January 22nd, 2004.

That's very early for the lunar New Year; but at least snowdrops and crocuses are coming up at that time giving a hint of spring and newness. At least, they are here. My boys like the trees - Rustom and I really feel like figs! Did you know there's a suburb of Brisbane called Fig Tree Pocket? I always wanted to live there - now I know why!

Didn't know that, I know next to nothing about Oz. My sister lives in a place called Upper Badger Pocket. I like these pockets, they sound so cozy.
