I know there are quite a few , yet I cannot seem to get my head around them, my letters could and would probably be wrong, thus not being able to get the answers myself.

FRACTION is correct, my typo. See http://able2know.org/reply/post-4514216

CARESS cannot be replaced by DARING, as this would clash with 8d STARTLED and 9d SUITCASE.

Do you have the grid in front of you?

nah mate i don't do crosswords uno that but gl

daring must be the answer to that clue so i'd check the others k

give us a look at the clue that produces the c instead of the d

fresco did well but failed to explain that sweetheart is "darling" and to forget first love means to drop the l from darling, goodness knows how fresco works these out but i shall be watching with my usual degree of suspicion
