but Hippo teeth go all the way to the bone:
Quote:A South African beauty queen is being treated in hospital after being attacked by a hippo in Botswana.
Diana Tilden-Davis was bitten in the leg while on a canoeing holiday in the Okavango swamp and is said to be in a stable condition in Johannesburg.
The runner-up in the Miss World competition in 1991 was attacked last Thursday while paddling in her canoe. It is the second reported hippo attack in the last month in that swamp, which is the country's top tourist spot.
Any chick that survives a hippo attack is way beautiful in my book!
Really. It's a wonder she has a leg to have teeth marks in.
Damn! What did the hippo do? Just reach into the canoe and latch on?
I believe Hippos kill more people a year than any other animal in africa. Sadly, they aren't the ballet dancing beauties we've come to expect.
If they just practiced their steps a bit more
then maybe the hippos would leave 'em alone.

Apparently, it's not uncommon for hippo's to do exactly that.
I have never been in hippo infested waters. I have heard though, that although they look cute and adorable, that they are one of the most aggressive animals in the world. I'd rather paddle in lakes filled with alligators, thank you very much!
Yup, I watch enough of Animal Planet, the Discovery Channel, and National Geographic to know that hippos are very territorial--and aggressive. Yes, they do kill more people in Africa than any other animal. Full-grown Nile crocodiles steer clear of them. Amazing that herbivores can be so dangerous.
Wow!!! I never knew that Hippo's were dangerous. I'll be staying away from then I think.
