What direction should Mid-Level Nurses go in todays economy?

Our economy is playing a big factor for nursing. Some would say , " further your education", I see this as further debt....if your already a seasoned nurse...why....employers don't want to pay more for nursing as it is....so what is nursing reduced to today and what is the future? A lot of nuses will be coming out schools only to find no jobs.
