American voters were quizzed on their knowledge of issues and facts raised in the 2010 midterm elections, in a survey by World Public Opinion, a project managed by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland.

Respondents were also asked where they get their news from: Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, newspapers, network TV news, public broadcasting.

@edgarblythe,
They weren't easy questions. One has to be a true policy wonk to get all of them correct.

@tsarstepan,
Nah, you just need to get your news from more than one source and one type of media outlet.

I missed two. Forgot that Bush was also involved in the GM/Chrysler bail out and I figured views were evenly divided amongst economists that the health reform legislation would have a positive/negative effect on the budget.

@Butrflynet,
I too missed the Bush GM/Chrysler bailout connection.

I try to get my news from the NY Times, the Boston Globe, the Christian Science Monitor, NPR, and the Daily Show. My problem is I don't retain or recall economic news very well. Truth is I tend to run away from this type of depressing topic that fills me with dread and kneejerkish cynicism.

@dyslexia,
You got a B- and I a C-. Perhaps a slug of George Dickel before taking the next test might give us a boost?

Obviously the Christian Science Monitor is a left wing mouthpiece....

I have to admit I was guessing a bit at times.

Am I smarter than a Fox viewer?

Ack. Missed 3. Same as some of you, the bailout tripped me up. Also, I was thinking "Iraq" when the question was "Afghanistan". Doh.

I missed one - I thought our Fed income taxes had remained the same since January. I still don't know when or how they went down.

While I don't get all of my news from Fox, I would describe myself as a Fox News viewer.

I think the quiz is somewhat of a trick to get people to answer based on a too quick read of the question and their personal bias rather than fact.
