Do I need to use an article here?

Sentence: Tapegate is a golden opportunity to expose self-righteous media.

My question: Do I need to use article "a" in the sentence? Or can it do without it? Or do I need to use another article altogether?

Yes, you need to use "a" in that sentence. The article is necessary.

Required use of another article in a different sentence:

Tapegate is THE best method to expose...
